Authenticity

My curiosity did not kill the cat – instead, it killed the previous email I wrote to you. I noticed a green arrow on the edge of the text box and out of curiosity I clicked it. My original email was resurrected as a new improved AI-generated version. The fail-safe undo did not work – my words were lost. (Lesson learnt – save before clicking). They weren’t my words so it did not feel right to send them to you. The impetus for getting the email out was gone.

However, it made me reflect on my need for authenticity – and how sometimes it causes me to stumble. I have a self-imposed rule that only photos I have taken can appear on the Inner Peace Healing website. I recently spent hours looking for new images for my website rebuild amongst the thousands I have taken . Why would using someone else’s beautiful photos make my website inauthentic?

It gave me the inspiration for the Meditative Morning – authenticity. We all have many masks we wear out of loyalty, habit and for protection.  And even though we are so well practised in wearing the masks – it feels so much better when you can show your authentic self. One of the advantages of getting older is that it gets easier to be authentic.

On Tuesday 3 December, I am holding a Meditative Morning on the meditation platform beside the Baviaans River in Hout Bay. We start at 9.30 – so arrive earlier if you want to have tea before we start. Nourishing snacks and tea will be served to keep you going till 1.00.

Using meditation, constellation exercises, ritual and reflection, we will explore what it means for you to stand in your authenticity.  Bring a hat, journal and pen.
Hope to see you beside the river. And if I don’t best wishes for the upcoming holiday season.
