The Transformation Winter Brings

White flowers
Here, where the summers are hot and dry, winter brings awakening and transformation with the arrival of rain and chilly nights. It’s not a time of hibernation.

The once dry ochre earth is now a green carpet densely dotted with white oxalis flowers, a reminder that the Cederberg mountain peaks will also soon be covered with the white of snow. The tiny round flowers on the tortoise berry bushes look like a purple haze, mirroring the low-lying succulents that the rains have transformed from a desiccated grey to a plump deep green, their delicate, many-petaled flowers of gentle white and purple just starting to show themselves.

During the winter months leading through to spring, nature offers a carefully choreographed shifting of colours.  Peeping between the green carpet are the lacy leaves of the parachute daisies. In a few weeks, the landscape will be transformed when they bloom bright orange, complemented by the cerise of shrubby succulents. I never know exactly which bulbs or annuals will make a statement, other than the certainty that it’s going to be spectacular.

It’s a bit like the Munay Ki Journeys I’ve been facilitating over the years.  There are some certainties, but each group invites a unique healing journey.  What I do know is that the layering of the Munay Ki Rites on each other and the archetype chakra meditations of the Harmony Rite will bring beauty and transformation into your life.

If you long to gather with an open-hearted community around a fire, this is an invitation to join the Munay Ki Journey.  The word Munay means love in Quechua (a language from Peru), and Ki is energy in Japanese.

My experience of the Munay Ki Rites is of deepening of connection to Spirit and the elements. The Rites, together with the Harmony Rite meditations, take one on a journey of cleansing, self-exploration as to how one perceives the world, invoking change where required and opening the pathway of empowerment to bring transformation in one’s life.

The 10-session Munay Ki Journey begins on Tuesday, 24 June. Inti Raymi, the most important day celebrated in Peru, falls on June 24. It is a vibrant honouring of Tata Inti (Father Sun), an expression of gratitude to Pachamama (Mother Earth) for a bountiful harvest, and marks the start of a new year. It is an auspicious day to start a journey orignating from that land.

We meet every fortnight, alternating between in-person in Hout Bay around a fire, either outdoors beside the river or inside, and online.  As you receive the rites and clear your energy field, you’ll shift long-held stories that no longer serve. It opens the way to step into a new way of being – empowered, open-hearted and transformed.

Listen to your heart if you feel the pull to start this journey this winter. I look forward to sitting with you around a warm fire.

The Munay Ki Journey dates

24 June, 8 July, 22 July, 5 August, 19 August, 2 Sept, 16 Sept, 30 Sept, 14 Oct, 28 Oct (optional)
